Gardening
Some time in the next few weeks, the snow will melt off my raised garden bed, and I expect that some of the herbs will have survived the winter. I love Okanagan grown tomatoes, and gardening, so I have joined the Oliver Community Gardens Society. I have been working on the irrigation for the gardens, and started planting today.

Conkle Lake - One Road Open (Johnstone Creek)
The access to Conkle Lake Provincial Park campsite, with 34
sites, has been reopened via Johnstone Creek Road West, from highway #3, near
Rock Creek. A landslide continues to block the access route to Conkle Lake, via
the Conkle-Ripperto FSR, from Hwy #33. Road accesses were washed out by heavier
than normal freshet over the last two weeks. The forest engineering section of
FLNRO is acting quickly to restore all accesses to the park.
Hot
Another 20plus C day on the mountain, and the snow is going fast. Evaporation, and melting.
Nice to come home to a cool cabin after a very hot morning at the Oliver Community Garden.
I can't use my basement as a guide for spring run off anymore - I put the money in to sealing the outside so it won't get wet again. My best guess is that if you are going to get water in your basement, it may be wet now.
A couple of sleds were here this afternoon, but didn't stay long - assume the snow was too mushy for them.
Still snow on the condo roofs. In the village, deep in some areas, and melted down to the ground around tree wells etc.
I also received a couple of comments on this post that I am not sure are real or spam. If I have ignored your comment, e-mail me and I'll post it.
The re-construction of the McKinney road appears to be complete, other than paving. Two new culverts installed - not sure if there is another to go in.

Conkle Lake Washout
Conkle Lake Provincial Park campsite is closed until further notice due to culvert wash outs caused by heavy spring runoff. Conkle Lake is located northwest of Rock Creek. Both road accesses, from Hwy #33 and #3, are blocked. BC Parks is arranging road repair with the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, however, the closure could be extensive because of similar events throughout the Boundary region.

Road Update
Argo has filled in most of the big holes in the road - drive slowly, and avoid the edge. Filled in sections are sinking a bit in places. Shoulders not yet rebuilt.
2nd of May
So here's the routine of the past too many days. Wake up to sunshine, admire the look of freshly fallen snow, and shovel the deck before it melts through on the firewood. Then the clouds move in, it starts to snow, and the whole sequence repeats.
